DXA uses dual energy X-ray absorptiometry to determine how dense your hips and spine are. As part of our commitment to providing high-quality imaging care, our imaging staff aims to make your procedure as relaxed and stress-free as possible. The following information will help you prepare for your DXA scan.
If you have had an imaging study which required you to have X-ray contrast, please wait 7 days before having your DXA scan. Please refrain from taking any calcium supplements one day prior to your scan.
You should come to the imaging facility wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothes that do not have any metal snaps or buttons. Our imaging staff will review your history prior to performing the scan. You may ask your technologist any questions about your study at this time.
