Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at UPMC in Central Pa.

Community LifeTeam is a Mobile Integrated Health Service that employs highly trained, certified Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics that are ready to respond to any medical emergency, day or night.

We continue to expand our emergency medical services to meet the needs of our community, providing both basic and advanced life support to 27 municipalities in Dauphin, Cumberland, and Northumberland Counties; as well as mutual aid response to EMS services in Dauphin, Cumberland, York, Perry, Schuylkill, and Northumberland Counties. With our newest affiliation with White Rose Ambulance in York, UPMC Central Pa. is now able to provide emergency medical services to the York and Gettysburg communities.

In addition to emergency responses, Community LifeTeam provides non-emergency ambulance transportation as well as interfacility (hospital to hospital) transportation. Our paratransit division provides wheelchair van transportation for patients being discharged from the hospital to home and from home to scheduled doctor’s appointments.

Community LifeTeam is a member of the Central Task Force which includes deployments to regional and nationally declared disasters. Our paramedics also support Harrisburg City Fire Department’s Rescue 1, a technical rescue team in Dauphin County. Several of our paramedics are also certified Medical Specialists with Pennsylvania Task Force 1, an urban search and rescue team.

Helping Our Community

Community Paramedicine

As a Mobile Integrated Health Service, our Community Paramedicine program helps patients overcome challenges that they may face after being discharged from the hospital. Paramedics will assist patients by ensuring that the patient has filled their prescriptions, verify medications, answer any questions the patient may have, and let the patient’s physician know how they are doing. Later, a paramedic from Community Paramedicine will follow up with the patient to make sure that they are following their plan of care appropriately and update the patient’s physician to ensure that the patient stays on a healthy track.
