Community Outreach Program at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital

Our Vision

We see a world with increased access to quality health education, helping women and families make informed decisions about their health care.

Our Mission

To improve the health literacy of those living in Pittsburgh’s most vulnerable and underserved neighborhoods through free health education programs.

We believe that all women and their families should have equal access to useful health information. And we strive to serve the needs of those who might not otherwise have access to health and wellness programs due to:

  • Income
  • Transportation
  • Language
  • Other barriers

About our Community Health Outreach Program

UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital’s Community Outreach Program offers health programs designed for learning through:

  • Lectures and presentations
  • Group discussions
  • Teaching displays

Led by health educators or medical staff, our interactive community health programs are:

  • Culturally sensitive
  • Able to meet the language needs of our non-English speaking neighbors
  • Good for groups

We also train community members and peer advocates to teach health topics in their neighborhoods and help with referrals to health services.
