Internal Medicine Residency Program at UPMC Community Osteopathic: Director's Welcome

Welcome to the Internal Medicine Residency Program at UPMC Community Osteopathic!

Here we train highly skilled, compassionate and well-rounded physicians in a resident-focused supportive environment. We value the model of lifelong learning and physicians as teachers – in fact every resident is an integral part of the education system and is responsible for the education of his or her peers, underclassman and medical students. We have created a nurturing family environment, in which each resident supports the success of the next and fosters camaraderie.

Our curriculum provides each resident with a forward-thinking academic atmosphere that balances patient care responsibilities with adequate time for study, research and a healthy lifestyle. The Department of Medicine is committed to the pursuit of the highest standards in education, patient care and developing leaders in clinical medicine.

We are personally committed to working with each of our residents to develop an individual training experience that allows them to attain their personal career objectives – whether that be as a general internist or subspecialist in inpatient or outpatient medicine. We hope you will consider our program!

Sincerely,

Shane Specht, DO
