The UPMC Center for Engagement and Inclusion's community engagement plan and Community Health Partnership Council address major public health disparities. Our goal is to have a deep impact on these issues.
As a starting point, our focus is on two areas: health and youth.
UPMC offers a professional development training for those in underserved communities. The Partnership on Workforce Readiness and Retention (POWRR) program equips individuals with the tools and confidence needed to overcome barriers to employment. Participants are guided through the process of choosing career paths, preparing for jobs, and developing skills to obtain and retain meaningful employment at UPMC.
UPMC knows the lasting impact we can make by serving our communities.
The UPMC Center for Engagement and Inclusion offers monthly "Lend A Hand" programs to inspire staff across the system to donate items, volunteer time, or attend events. These programs allow staff to reap the rewards of giving back to the places in which we all live and work.
UPMC also partners with local non-profits to host UPMC Community Service Projects to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Throughout the course of a year, employees have the chance to take part in one of these large-scale projects.
